Taco Bell is Testing a Taco Subscription Service

Using the Taco Bell app, customers can purchase a $5 Taco Lover’s Pass. For the next 30 days, you can then get one Crunchy Taco, Crunchy Taco Supreme, Soft Taco, Soft Taco Supreme, Doritos Locos Tacos, Doritos Locos Tacos Supreme or Spicy Potato Soft Taco.

You have to use the app and the Taco Lover’s Pass is for in-store pick up only. For now, the subscription is good only at stores in Tucson, Arizona.

Food subscription services are becoming more popular. According to trade publication QSR, Panera’s $8.95 a month picked up 100,000 sign ups during its first month. My Panera+Coffee gets you unlimited iced and hot coffee and hot tea, any size or flavor, redeemable every two hours.

Taco Bell Crazy Recycling Plan

It sounds like a messy and incredibly inefficient idea but Taco Bell wants customers to mail in their used hot sauce packets for recycling. Seriously. Maybe.

Here’s what they want you to do.

Sign up for an account with TerraCycle, a specialty recycling firm.

Collect empty sauce packets within a cardboard box or any other recyclable container you already have on hand.

Once your collection box is full, log into your TerraCycle account to download and print a free shipping label.

Ship your box via UPS.

TerraCycle has reportedly seen success with similar collection programs for coffee capsules, chewing gum and more.  The Recycle-Your-Hot-Sauce-Packet idea is part of Taco Bell’s commitment to make all consumer-facing packaging recyclable, compostable, or reusable by 2025.
